In the late 19th century, Francis C. Osborn, originally from the Syracuse, NY area, settled in Detroit, Michigan. He met and married Laura Freele of Huntington, Indiana. He was a noted inventor and industrialist, and she served for many years on the Detroit school board. They had two daughters (Laura and Ruth) and a son (Francis, Jr. - my paternal grandfather).
I submitted a successful application for my great-grandmother, Laura Freele Osborn, to be inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame (Lansing, Michigan) in October 1995.
