FeiZhou-AsSiin

FeiZhou-AsSiin , subtitled "Africa & China, China & Africa" is a Yahoogroup set up in 2006 to "facilitate consideration of connections and interactions between China and Africa, and Africans and Chinese - historic, present, and future." Although the topic was and is of long-term interest, I found that other commitments made it hard to follow the approach initially intended, so it has been inactive with only a handful of subscribers.

The group "draws its name from the Chinese (Mandarin, Puthonghua) for Africa, 'Fei Zhou,' and the name in Arabic for China, 'Al Siin' (pronounced as-siin). Arabic was chosen since it is one of many maternal languages in Africa, and one that has influenced a number of other languages on the continent (notably in the Sahel and east Africa)." The list was initially titled "FeiZhou," but the name was expanded soon thereafter (I preferred not to use an English title).

The full archives  are public; all contributions during the brief period of activity were mine. (They are listed here in anticipation of Yahoo's deletion of group archives in Dec. 2019).
