[africa_web_content_owner] African languages
Jan 21, 2000
Greetings!
I am very interested in knowing if anyone is working on standardization of computer fonts and keyboards for (West) African languages and/or internet coding for the specialized characters used for sounds particular to those languages. This is an issue that may interest some but not all (?) participants in this list, and may thus require a separate "sister" list, if one does not already exist.
Preliminary checking & contacts seem to indicate that numerous separate public and private initiatives in these areas may be needlessly duplicating effort and creating incompatible solutions (though I would be happy to be proved wrong!).
Any info would be appreciated - I'm not sure if it might be best to communicate to me personally rather than burdening the list. TIA!
